Thus black taf feta, which comes hemstitched, tucked, corded and pleated, is mado up In jack ets, whole costumes, fancy shirt wolstr, separate skirts, long clo.iks nnd capes, each with n look of complexity that Is not borne out by the facts. The bolero Is of tho fancy ma terial, as a rule, but the sleeves may bo of the plain material or may match the body of the jacket. Laces in many varieties nnd designs trim sheor wnsh gowns. Dend whlto, ecru nnd black ara the fashionable colorings, although some hnndsomu ecru nnd gold Inco Is seen. Point d' esprit, Point de Paris, d'Aleneon, Flor entine, vnlcnclenncs, tnechllu, crochet, duchess, chantilly and all the lace ap pliques nre seen on gowns of sheer goods, silks and soft cloths, l'cni Is a fashion able shade for dead white gowns and delicate colors. Sheer grnss linen usual ly Is trimmed with dead white lace. A handsome gown of this character was dotted grass linen, trimmed with bauds of Point do Paris lace and Insertion and piped with moss green velvet. The nl. overs, heavy guipures and applique laces nre used on the sheer soft iloth gown, and It Is not unusual to see three dif ferent patterns of lace on one costume. The all-overs are mado Into fronts, panels, side pieces, yokes nnd collars, and nre used on nil kinds of material. Many gowns are made with sldo and front panels. Sometimes tho body of tho waist Is lace, or yoke and vest are lnco nnd tho bod of tho mnterlnl. The all-over laco gown mado princess Is still seen, often with applications of cretonne or chiffon llowers. Thulatter are used, too. on other gowns with finish of black ot ecru laee. At the left In the second of these pictures Is a gown of nllo green crepe do chine, with deep yoke, sleeves nnd skirt panels of white point do Pnrls, the silk being trimmed with cretonne, roses outlined with gold thread. Across the picture Is sect) an all-over princess gown of ecm lace over pale blue foulard. When collars nre wpm with these gowns, the lace pattern may match that used on tho rest of the gown, or a handsomer lace may bo used. The middle gown of these three Ulus- USED ON SILKS. tratcs tlio stylish use of gtilpuro ap pliques, though as tlio dress material in this cuse was old roso I.oulsluo silk, n groat amount of tho trimming was not deemed necessary. Dotted mvIss and net nro mado up very handsomely with trimming of black and ecru laces. Homo aro uppllquod with chiffon flowers anil tho black laco Is put on In zigzag patterns. Others were ap pllqued wltli heavy ecru laco. Itoleros of ecru and gold laco may bo purchased In tho stores ready-mado to bo worn with fancy whit? shirt waists or handsome fluffy gowns. The employment of thi'so notions is shown In tho last of to-ilay's pictures. Here aro, beginning nt tho loft, n sheer grnss linen, with yoke and vest of black silk net and bands of Ivory laco; next, a white mull with bands of black chantilly, crimson velvet outlining tho yoke and trimming the sleeves; third, a pale pink mousnelluo do sole, its heavy ecru laco appllqucd with yellow chiffon flowers', and last, a whlto silk muslin trimmed with ecru d'Aleneon and moss green velvet.
