ono woman was killod, another fatally
injured und a third badly out about
tho head aijd body. Tho runaway oc
curred ut 0 o'clock, at a time when the
streets woro unusually crowded, owing
to tho number wultiug to go home on
tho curs to dinner.
Tho team wus hituhof to a delivery
wagon standing in front ot a grocery
store on Socoud avenue, while the
driver went Insldo to deliver some
goods. The driver says that he put the
brake on tho wheels aud tied tho horses
with a weight. A few moments later
thoy took fright at something and
dashed down Second aveuuo. The
street is a down grade, and they at,
tainod fearful velocity by the time they
reached James street, where the wo
men stood. They were waiting te
catch a oar.
Mrs. O. Jacobson, aged 70, was
struck by the horses and knocked down!
and run over by tho wagon, two
whools passing over her head. She
dlod almost intsautly. A Mrs. Arm
itcad waa knocked down and the horses
stepped on her chest, inflicting serioas

until morniug. The third woman,
Mrs. Alberta Jacobson, was severely
