Cards available
for download
March is National Nutri-
tion Month. Oregon State
University Extension is again
rolling out its Food Hero’s
Spring Break BINGO project.
Food Hero is Oregon State
University’s social market-
ing campaign and program
to help encourage limit-
ed income Oregonians im-
prove their health through
the increased consumption
of fruits and vegetables and
more family meals cooked at
home. Spring Break BINGO
promotes comprehensive
wellness for children and
their families over Spring
Break, according to a press
release.
The BINGO cards include
24 tasks covering healthy
eating (14), physical activity
(seven), and less screen time
(three) with the effort to
promote a healthy and active
spring break. All tasks can be
achieved and replicated by
most families.
Look for the BINGO cards
at Mid Valley Elementary,
Parkdale Elementary and
Cascade Locks Elementary,
or download and print your
own BINGO card at www.
foodhero.org/bingo.

Laureate and guests at Maryhill

will host a poetry reading
with Washington Poet Lau-
reate Claudia Castro Luna

by current Oregon Poet Lau-
reate Kim Stafford, former
Oregon Poet Laureate Eliz-
abeth Woody and poet Ty-
rone Ross Thompson as
part of the statewide poetry
project “One River, Many
Voices.”
“One River, Many Voices”
is a series of readings and
workshops along the length
of the Columbia River, ex-
ploring a sense of place, of
ecology, of history, and cel-
ebrating the power of words
and stories to define our-
selves and our communities,
said a press release.
The event starts with a
reception at 3 p.m., followed
by readings at 3:30 p.m., free
with museum admission (no
one will be turned away for
lack of funds).
The program is present-
ed by Humanities Washing-
ton and Washington State
Arts Commission, and made
possible by the Academy of
American Poets.

Management Plan

River Gorge National
