Swimmers jump into the Columbia Friday
while a waterskier carves a wake just west of
the Event Site. After a cooling trend for a few
days, Gorge weather spiked into the 90s
again over the weekend. Look for tempera-
tures in the mid-80s this week – not that it’s
not swimming weather, too.

Lavender DAZE at Hood River Lavender in Odell drew large crowds
Saturday and Sunday. While pickers choose their lavender, vendors
including Bob White talk with visitors. White, of Odell, makes gui-
tars and ukuleles out of cigar boxes (see example above), and other
objects.
Linda Lewis of Crisp and Tart of Hood River sells hand-painted flour sack dish clothes and other wares. At another booth, minding the
store was Rebecca Brochu, who works as apprentice ceramist with Jim Diem of Hood River.
