PET OF THE WEEK
Logan is one-of-a-kind
This week volunteers at
Adopt A Dog have selected
Logan as the prog ram’s
adoptable pet of the week:
Logan is 2 or 3 years old,
likely Great Dane and Boxer
mix ... maybe some Spaniel
in there? He’s 60 pounds, tall
and skinny! And he’s got a
big underbite, which is kind
of funny, because he tries re-
ally hard to fit as many ten-
nis balls in that mouth of
his, but the teeth don’t make
it easy!
Logan is a calm, gentle
and loving, devoted dog. That
is, until you bring out the
toys! He’s still got lots of
puppy in him, and he’s not
shy about it, so hold on, be-
cause Logan is ready! He is
so ready that we are working
on teaching him to settle
down a bit. But he doesn’t
mind. He takes corrections
well and is learning fast. If
there’s no one around to play,
he’ll entertain himself by
tossing toys up in the air and
then try to catch them, or at
least scamper of f after
them!
Because Logan needs a re-
minder to calm, we are not
recommending him to a
home with small kids. Other
than that, he’s fantastic ...oh,
exce pt
one
other
thing. Logan had surgery
about a year ago to repair a
broken hip and they had to
Logan
remove part of his femur
and everything was going
well, but now he walks and
runs like his chassis is out of
alignment! Some call it his
swagger, others just chuckle
and enjoy the show! He’s so
playful and crazy about fetch
that during his recovery, he
wasn’t kept from running
around, and he injured the
ACL on his other leg, so now
he’s not allowed to go crazy
mad and play as hard as he’d
like, but he doesn’t seem to
care one bit. The vet says he
doesn’t need surgery as long
as he is kept from going
berserk! He just walks
funny!
Logan still goes on long
hikes every day, and he’s
fine. And he can still play
with other dogs, just not
real hard, so no dog parks
for him. And he’ll never be
