Make a handmade three ring 8 x 8 scrapbook
album at the library. Decorate the album with rib-
bons, tags, and other various elements. The class
will be held at the Hood River Library Saturday, July
25, at 2 p.m.
Local mother of two Pam Sanchez will teach the
class. Sanchez has lived in the Gorge for the past 20
years. Scrapbooking is a hobby for Sanchez and she
loves to preserve memories and stories.
The presentation is free and open to the public.

Summer fun at the Hood River Library
Looking for a way to beat the summer
heat? The Hood River Library — which
serves as a downtown cooling shelter —
has a number of weekly activities for chil-
dren and adults.
Free family-friendly entertainment
comes to the library starting at 5:30 p.m.
on Wednesdays. Previous shows have in-
cluded live bugs and “seriously funny jug-
gling;” this week, enjoy a Western-themed
comedy show.
On Thursdays, start the morning with
baby/toddler and big kid story time, both
at 10 a.m., and then return with the older
kids at 2 p.m. for Crafternoon — enjoy a
fun, free craft project.

rary artist Sorcha Meek is showing large
and small scale oil paintings from her “To-
gether” series.
The library also has summer reading
programs for children, teens and adults at
all branches (Hood River, Parkdale and
Cascade Locks). Kids can earn prizes as
they progress towards their reading goal,
teens earn prizes for hours completed, and
adults will be entered into a raffle for each
book read.
