Hood River Valley High
School thespians are re-
hearsing five one-act plays
for performance April 17 and
18. One of the plays is the
comic “Trapped,” by Michael
Green, a classic tale of a
murder in an isolated English
country home, with Tyler
Delepine, left, Jenissa
Ramirez, Jordon Dawson,
and Rory Krehbiel. Also in
the cast are Cody Kendal,
Madison Kern and Rhianna
Salman. Shows are present-
ed in the round, at 7 p.m. at
Bowe Auditorium.

‘ B LACKBEARD’ O N S TAGE T ODAY
Missoula Childrens Theater performances are today at 2 and 5
p.m. at Westside Elementary. A cast of 30 or more actors, includ-
ing these dancing sea creatures, present “Blackbeard’s Trea-
sure,” a whimsical take on the legend of Blackbeard the pirate
(aka Edward Teach, as the audience will learn). The shows cul-
minate a week of rehearsals led by visiting directors from Mis-
soula Children’s Theater, assisted by parents. Shows are at 2 and
5 p.m., admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The comic
romp features musical accompaniment by Bill Weiler.

Taste of Tsuruta Dinner
A limited number of tickets are still available for pur-
chase for the annual Taste of Tsuruta Dinner held
tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mt. Hood Winery.
Guests will enjoy Japanese and Chinese cuisine while
having the chance to participate in a live and silent auc-
tion featuring items such as travel vouchers, food and
drink baskets, gift certificates for a variety of local busi-
nesses and much more. The cost is $25 per ticket or 2
tickets for $40. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by
contacting Niko Yasui at niko.yasui@hood river.k12.or.us.

The first annual Hood
River Independent Film Fes-
tival will be held at the Hood
River Valley High School in
the Bowe Theatre on Friday,
May 8 at 7 p.m. The event,
which is organized by the
Hood River County Educa-
tion Foundation, is open to
filmgoers of all ages from the
community.
Students from Hood River
Valley High School will
showcase their independent
films on the big screen. The
films will be 3 minutes or
less and span the genres of
action, outdoor athletics,
documentary and narrative
films. The deadline for sub-
mitting student films is April
15.
