School honored artists and
writers on Friday with an all-
school Fine Arts assembly.
Students were recognized
for their winning entries in
the Scholastic Art and Writ-

Sixth-grader Ren Tappert made his CAST debut this month in
“The Full Monty,” which closes Feb. 28. Ren portrays
Nathan, the son of Larry (Ari Bloodgood, left), an unem-
ployed steelworker. Ren, 11, the son of Peter and Jayce Tap-
pert, attends Hood River Middle School. In the musical, Ren
holds his own as the only youth in the cast, as Nathan gets
more than one wise and/or funny line to help his father learn
a lesson or two.
