Ural Thomas
plays Feb. 13
DANCER ‘HORSE’ (EDWARD
MCNAIR), right, shows Larry
(Ari Bloodgood) some surprising
steps in a scene from the musi-
cal opening Feb. 13 at Columbia
Center for the Arts. A motley
crew of unemployed men stage
a strip show and overcome fears
and form new friendships –
while shoring up existing rela-
tionships – in the comic and oft-
dramatic story. Bruce Ludwig di-
rects. (The play contains multi-
ple sexual references and ma-
ture language and is not suit-
able for children under 13.)
Shows are Feb. 13 and 14, at
7:30 p.m., and Feb. 19, 20, 21,
27 and 28, with a 2 p.m. mati-
nee on Feb. 22. Front row bistro-
seating packages are available;
see www.columbiarts.org for
details. Tickets are available on
line or at Waucoma Bookstore.
‘Symphony’ at
Springhouse
Music in the Backroom
at Springhouse Cellar con-
tinues on Tuesday, Feb. 10
with 10 String Symphony
starting at 6 p.m.
“10 String Symphony is
an arena for mesmerizing
acoustic innovation. Al-
though difficult to catego-
rize, their music is instant-
ly recognizable as a blend
of two distinct musical
voices, encompassing ag-
gressive, almost discor-
dant, Celtic and punky
string-chording experi-
mentations. Vocally, Rachel
Baiman and Christian
Sedelmyer (Jerry Douglas
Band) lock in seamlessly,
and their vocal duets often
take center stage despite
the fact that they are self-
described 5-string fiddle
players.” Springhouse Cel-
lar, 13 Railroad Ave, Hood
River; 541-308-0700.
