Our Food Web’,
is Feb. 5 topic
Join Gorge Grown Food
Network on Feb. 5 for its next
community conversation, en-
titled: “Strengthening Our
Food Web: Linking Produc-
ers to Buyers.” This event
will take place at Spring-
house Cellars from 5:30 to
7:30 p.m.
Several regional hospitals,
restaurants, and schools
have expressed an interest in
sourcing more local food for
their clientele, but have
found it challenging to be
able to do so due to lack of
food distribution, difficulty
in sourcing, and lack of year-
round availability.
The evening will begin
with a panel featuring Paul
Hickman, Director of Food
and Nutrition for Mid-Co-
lumbia Medical Center,
Megan Davis, owner and
baker at Pine St. Bakery, and
Wildwood Farm owners dis-
cussing the opportunities
and challenges faced in buy-
ing and selling local food.
There will also be time for
buyers to connect with farm-
ers and artisan food produc-
ers directly. Buyers are en-
couraged to bring lists of
food items they are interest-
ed in sourcing locally. Farm-
ers are encouraged to bring
their fresh sheets or crop
lists to share with buyers.
Value-added food producers
may bring samples to share
as well.
Soup, sandwiches, bread,
and cookies will be available
for purchase from Pine St.
Bakery and drink will be
available for purchase cour-
tesy of Springhouse Cellars.
