day’s third annual all-you-can-eat crab and oyster feed at the Odell Fire Department. Nearly 360 peo-
ple filled long tables in the fire hall engine bay, as 50 or so volunteers ran fresh crab and steamed oys-
ters to the tables and cleared away the spent shells. Wy’east Fire District chief Greg Borton said the
event was a success, and will return next year to the fire hall, though continued growth may require
finding a new location. Proceeds are used for community project and equipment purchases by the vol-
unteer associations of Pine Grove and Odell fire departments, which make up Wy’east District.

The Jan. 15 GO! Network “Green Drinks” event filled Volcanic Bottle Shop. Featured pour at the event
was the Seizoen Bretta, the flagship ale of Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, which brews Belgian-styles near
Odell. Green Drinks was catered by Marley’s Corner pub. Also speaking were Amanda Goeke, who with
her husband, Abe, owns Volcanic, and Becky Brun of the GO! Network, along with (above) David Logs-
don and his wife, Judith Bams, a native of Belgium. Logsdon said local breweries “brew and learn to-
gether,” and Goeke stressed the need for businesses to support each other; Logsdon announced the
brewery’s satellite taproom will open Feb. 14-15 for the Zwickelmania, a statewide brewery open house.
