C, the leading varieties of apples la the Hood Klver Valley are the Yellow Newtown, Spltzen lierg, Ortley, Jonathan, Ked Cheek, and Arkansas I'lack. For Fears; D'AnJou Is the leading variety and seems to grow well. Other varieties, worth trying would he liartl.Ut. Patrick Hurry, Howell, and (iloii Morceau. The varieties at M osier are similar to those at Hood Klver. Very few other fruits are grown In these dis tricts except for home use. For Kasplierrles: Cuthltert; anil fur Stra wlierrlt s, Clark's Seedling. In the Fpper Hood Klver Valley varli-ty adaptation is still In an ex perimental stage. The Winter Ita nana s ems to do well, and it may he that the Delicious will ho good for that district, also (Jano, Jona than, etc. In the vicinity of The Dalles we find a district especially adapted for peaches, prunes, cherries and grapes. The district uhove The Dalles Is lie cultivated to apples. For peaches the principal ones are F.arly rawford.
