Mr. and Mrs. A, L. Henderson and three children spent Satur day and Sunday with relatives here. Miss Ada Mark, who spent her Easter vacation at home, return ed to Salem Friday. Dr. and Mrs. Sweetland and son, Monroe, returned to Salem the latter part of the week. The social meeting of the Sun Flower class was thoroughly en joyed by its members at the home of the president, H. F. Lage, Tuesday eve. The first wild sun flowers of the season were in evidence. It being the 2nd of April an April Fool evening was given. All young people of the neighborhood are asked to j'oin this class. There will be preaching ser vices at the church both morning and evening next Sunday. Sun day school at 10 a. m. ; prayer meeting Thursday evening at 45. All are cordially invited to attend. Miss Clara Abshere spent the week end with the homejfolks at Fir. Riddell and Hans Lage accom panied their father and mother to Portland last Thursday and spent the day visiting their Grandma Riddell. Pine Groveites attending the Lage-VonGoerres wedding last Thursday were H. F. Lage, B. H. Lage, wife and son, Keith, and E. E. Lage and wife. When Mr. and Mrs. Hans Lage arrived home last Saturday even ing they were surprised to find Mr. Lage's children and grand children at the old home to wel come the new mother and grand mother. A chicken supper was served at which twenty-two were seated. The bride and groom were each required to cut her and his cake, i-e. an angel's food and devil's food, into twenty-two pieces. A merry time was had by the family. Later in the even ing the door opened and admitted what seemed to be a continuous stream of neighbors and friends with their congratu- ations and good wishes. Over eighty were present The bride and groom were presented with a handsome pair of silver candle sticks to lighten the new road. t being leap year every one was given a chance to eat to the health of the groom by being served a small piece of the groom's cake. After refresh ments were served Mr. Koberg and daughter. Lena, with the help of the bride and groom, sang German selection. The Copelands intend to leave soon for their future home in Port land. D. P. Smith is spending a few days with his uncle in Walla Walla. Mr. Pealer is laying the foun dation for a large new barn. G. II. Robbins has gone to Or egon City, where he intends to spend some time working in his nursery. Mr. and Mrs. Hull were recent visitors at E. W. Sweany's. Mrs. Sweany returned to Portland with them.
