The house on Jim David son's homestead, for u time, was threatened to be consumed, but at last reports was safe. MOSIER Mrs. F. A. Shogren visited In Port land during the week. Misses Mattle Hudson and Lucy Multlns spent part of the day Thurs day In Hood Itlver. Quite a crowd went to Parkdale Sunday -to witness the ball game and have a little outing. Miss Dollle Fisher left Thursday for Hood Klver to stay with her grandmother. Mrs. Woods. John Evans, of Kuthton, has moved his family here for the winter and has secured rooms lu the Alex Stewart building. Mr. Sundlerg left Tuesday tor the Fast, where he will visit relatives On his return he, with his family, will move to the Valley, where they will reside. Cleaning day has lieen postponed on account of so many lelng busy with prunes. We hoe every one will turn out on the next date and clean up the town. Fd Burt Is again with us, having returned Sunday to take charge of the drug store while his partner, Mr. Arthur, with Dr. Johnson, had a little outing among the hills. They returned Saturday, looking like they had been there. They got some game. Three carloads of prunes and pears have already la-en shipped to New York and It is expected four more cars will is- shipped In the next week The packing Is under the care of V Masten and a letter grade of pack log Is being put out than In former vears. He was accompanied by J. 15. (Jolts, of The Dalles. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Allen, of Onh- kosh. Wis , spent a day here recently, looking over the valley. Mr. Allen has IsH-n with the Western t'nlou Telegraph Co. for forty years and Is now manager of the Oshkosh office.
