NEW PLAN ADOPTED TO
TEACH STUDENTS TO SPOUT
To teach the young men In the
public speaking classes to think
clearly and rapidly In an emergency,
a new plan has been adopted at the
Oregon Agricultural College by I".
J. ISutkiu, Instructor In oratory and
debate.
Monday morning he had on hln
desk a number of slips of paper lear
Ing such subjects as "Socialism,"
"Tbe Support of Student Activities,"
and "The Value of Debatlag Work."
Each student had to come forward,
draw a slip, and give a speech before
the class without any previous prep
aration. Some excellent speeches resulted,
and much amusement wan created
by ('. ('. Thompson, an agricultural
course senior from Hood lllver, who
gave a humorous address on "Hard
Work", a subject upon which he
claimed to be better qualified to
speak than any other member of the
clans.
