K. 1)1 M AN. PRISONER ESCAPES FROM THE DALLES HOSPITAL Much excitement was occasioned Thursday night by the disappear ance of Fred Weaver from The Italics hospital. He Is the man who was shot about a month ago when leav ing the Mrs. I). M. French residence which he had ransacked. While re covering from his wounds he has been confined in the hospital in charge of a special guard. Weaver escaped the attention of the guard about s-"A) o'clock at night, long enougli to make his get-away by sliding from a window to the grouud with the aid of a blan ket which be had attached to the window ledge. On account of heavy shackles which he has on his feet he was not able to get very far und was captured by the officers it the corner of Waslilngton and Fulton streets where he had taken refuge on the roof of the Joles barn. He was taken to the county Jail for safe keeping. FILE ON WATER RIGHTS IN WHITE SALMON RIVER Five power sites have lieen tiled on within the past 60 days along t tie Whlt,e Salmon river for a distance of .'W miles. The filings were made bv the Northwestern Klectrlc Company, t lie Pacific Power & Light Company, Charles L. Huff and others. The filings call for approximately JiHmi cubic feet of water per second, to lie used for manufacturing ami Ir rigating purposes, and for the gen eration of electricity for light, power and all other purposes to which electricity may lie applied. Water Is to be diverted by erecting dams from ."0 to l.'W feet In height, according to locality, aud carried by means of flumes, ditches or pipes down cither bank of the river for from one to three miles, to be used and returned to the river.
