"Pete" Kelley, of the Upper Valley, has returned to Hood River after an abseuce of two months. Mr. Kelley was at Corvallls six weeks where he was enrolled as a student Id the short horticultural course. E. H. Shepurd and Mrs. Shepard returned Mouday from a Southern California visit. Mr. Shepard was In attendance at the Western J obits' Convention at Sacramento and later lie and hU wife were visitors at his former home at Marysvllle. Miss Ionia Mciruth and Miss Freeman, who have taken up the profession of pilvute nursing, are making their headquarters at the home of Mrs. J. 11. Graham returned Friday evening from St. Vincent's hospital, having recovered from a trouble on which he was operated for. Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Brock enter tained Saturday evening at dinner, In honor of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Bone, the guests being limited to a few Intimate friends of the two families. B. Xelson, for several years In the saloon business at Cascade Locks, was at Hood River Monday getting a rebate on his llccense, which was paid until next October. Mr. Xelson has moved away from the Locks and Is now living at La. Center, Wash. The social dances being held lu Hellbronner hall Saturday evenings under the direction of Prof. Wheelan are proving popular. One given Saturday evening was largely at tended and the music was par excel lence. The dancing classes under Mr. Wheelan's direction are also being well patronized. H. W. Sawyer and J. T. Thomp son of Idaho spent several days here last week looking over the country with a view to Investing In fruit land. Boorraan and Mr. and Mrs. Win. Boorman, who have been at Long Beach, Calif., dur ing the winter, returned to their home at Hood River Friday. The Hoormans, as well as other Califor nia visitors from this section, say that the winter in California this season has been none too pleasant and that they are glad to get back to Oregon.
