Butler Banking Company, went to
Portland last week and was oper
ated on Thursday morning for mas
told, at St. Vincent's hospital. At
latest reports he was doing very
nicely.
H. K. Albee was bere Thursday to
look at his big apple crop, which
has Just beeu pucked. Mr. Albee Is
one of the holdover Republican state
senators who will take part In the
dellleratlons of Oregon's lawmakers
this winter.

Pastor Harris wishes to announce

Sam W. Howard, late of Chicago,
has just arrived In Hood Klver and
assumed management of the ladles'
department of the Up-to Date store.
Mr. Howard has had much experi
ence and Is thoroughly competent In
his line. He w lil le a valuable ad
dition to Mr. Cram's alrendy splen
did force of clerks. Mrs. Howard
nnd son, who nre now visiting In
Los Angeles, will also be In Hood
Klver shortly.

at Asbury Methodist church next
Sunday will be, "Reward of Soul

are Necessary." A series of revival
services begins at this church Sun
day which will continue for two or
three weeks.
William Haner, a resident of the
east side, returned from a goose
hunting trip to Arlington last week.
Mr. Hauer was for many years a
steward on the Columbia River boats
running from The Dalles to Portland
and Is an expert chef and caterer. He
Is said to be an artist In preparing
wild goose for the table. Mr. Haner
has been serving the suppers for the
dances at Pine Grove and those who
attend are highly complimentary of
the way he does It.
The All Oregon Fruit Show by the
Oregon State Horticultural Society
will be held In Portland on Wednes
day, Thursday and Friday, Nov.
