PUSHING WHITE SALMON
ELECTROOAD SURVEY
The permanent survey for the Mt.
Adams electric Hue has lieen com
pleted as far as Kolx rtsville and the
cost for construction of the whole
line calculated at 2t),000 er mile.
The route of the line takes It. clear to
Trout Lake aud back via llusum,
but the course from Koliertsvllle Is
not yet certaln.dcpeudiugou whether
the greater part of the Camas i'ralrle
district wants the line to tap their
territory. The farmers of the lower
part of that rich territory have al
ready subscribed for stock. If the
people of the upper part, aud partic
ularly the (Jleuwood vicinity, want
the Hue subscription for stock will be
required as an Indication of their
good will. If no inducement Is made
for the line to veer that way it w ill
swing to the left circling Fulda and
Laurel to Trout Lake.
The Mt. Adams Hue will leave the
White Salmon dock, climb a three
per cent grade to White Salmon, but
Instead of gong to Cook's addition
will strike north from the Hunsaker
place to section 1, then east across
Wilkin's canyon to Apple Center,
then to Mt. Brook and from- there on
to Hobertsvllle. At no place In Its
entire course will there le more than
a four per cent grade.
Secretary Stiepler reports $70,000 In
sight In stock, subscription, notes,
mortgages and rights-of-way. As
soon as it Is shown that the route Is
feasible which has now been deter
mined by the recent survey there Is
$2,000,0(10 of outside capital at their
disposal. The secretary's office Is
now located in the Smith building
and on Its walls are blue prints of
the new electric line, showing every
part of the road. It certainly looks
like business. It shows up fine on
paper and the Enterprise Itelleves
that It will work out as liueaslt
looks.
The company as constituted at
present Is composed of local capital
ists who have Incorporated for $,.
000. By-laws have been adopted and
a campaign will shortly start for the
two million dollars with which to
build the road. White Salmon Ln-U-rprlse.

BEAN ACCUSED OF
QUESTIONABLE TACTICS
Henrv J. Bean, a self nominated
candidate for justice of the supreme
court, is sending broadcast over the
state a circular letter over his own
slgnature.full of praise of himself and
of denunciation of one of his oppon
ents, it Is said he has not taken the
trouble to inquire Into the facts or
he would readily have ascertained
tin' untruthfulness of the statements
he makes about Wallace McCamunt,
his opponent. It Is claimed by Mr.
McCamant's supporters that he will
find when he reads the returns that
a candidate docs not make votes by
Intemperate and untruthful abuse of
Ills opponent. Henry J. Bean must
not le confounded with ltolx-rt S.
Bean, who for many years was on
our supreme hence and was appoint

year or more ago. Henry J. Is not
ri-lnted to Robert S. Bean arid Is said
to be a very different type of man.
