our mall almost dally; but when we
wish to mall anything, we are
mile and a half from anywhere

Creek Friday. The day was spent

left Thursday to attend the circus In
Portland and then go on to Tacoina
and Seattle for a two week's visit.
They were accompanied as far its
Portland by Mr. Alllngton.
A party of Koynl Neighbors went
out to Elmer Boot's and surprised
them. It was an old fashioned sur
prise ns the family had retired. They
were soon astir and Invited the
crowd in to partake of peaches ami
cream, watermelon, etc. All di
parted wondering whose turn would
be next.

Rev. Harris to Preach Sunday
Bev. Edwin A. Harris, who Is to
supply the Blverslde Congregational
pulpit during the month of Septem
ber, Is expected to arrive In Hood
Blver next Saturday, Sept. .'Ird. Mr.
Harris will occupy the pulpit both
morning and evening Sunday. Dur
ing the mouth It Is expected that
large audiences will hear him with n
view of determining the advisability
of making his call permanent. Ills

A large fire east of China Hill has
been raging and one near Middle
Valley saw mill, both of which are
now under control.
At Cloud Cap Inn Friday the view
of the mountain, with the peaks In
the distance, could le clearly seen.
A sea of smoke was below.
John (Jordou took a party of
young people from Hood Blver,
Portland, Medford and Parkdale to
Cloud Cap Inn Friday, Mrs. ('. E.
Mcintosh was chaperone.

The Hood Klver-Whlte Salmou

eastern people, will hold a meeting

change the name to the Oregon
