NEW RECTOR FOR
ST, MARK'S CHURCH
Kev. D. T. Simpson has accepted
tlie position as rector of St. Mark's
church and In expected to arrive here
thin week. Mr. Simpson I now In
Portland. He was formerly In charge
of an Episcopal church at Sioux Falls,
South Dakota, and later rector of
the Episcopal church at Corvalls.
Afterward he was In the Hawaiian
Inlands, but for Home time has been
connected with one of the 'Portland
churches. He ban a wife and two
sons and It In expected that on their
arrival, which will In; thin week, they
will be tendered a reception. In thin
connection, It Ih asked by the bishop's
committee, that new mcmtsrs of the
church lu the valley send In their
names to Mr. K. W. Pratt.

Fruit Fair at (jilbert-Vauxhan'a
In order to solve the question of a
fruit fair building this fall the tJIIU-rt
Vaughan Company at the meeting of
the association held Tuesday offered
the use of tbelr big salesroom. The
suggestion was considered a capital
one and It Is exis-cted the fair will be
held there.

panied her home.
Mrs. Ireland, from Crookston,
Minn., and Mrs. E. Nlckelson from
Belmont visited their sister, Mrs.
Sam Campbell Sunday and Monday.

The friends of John (ileason, a
former resident of this locality, were
pained to learn of hinsad death Tues
das evening of last week, which oc
curred near Oregon City. His fam
ily have the sympathy of all In their

Del Kand Is learning the secrets of
the apple Industry and Is at present
acquiring the art of packing with
the Davidson Fruit Company.
Chun. Larsen, who has been on a
vacation, returned home to Hood
River Monday evening. Mr. Larsen
denies the allegation that he Is mar
rled.
Miss Elizabeth (Julnn, a sister of
Frank Qulnn, and one of the Instruc
tors lu the Seattle schools, Is visiting
friends and relatives here for a few
days.
Miss I'm Casey of Boise, Idaho and
Miss Gertrude Casey of Dysert, Iowa,
after being guests at the home of Mr,
and Mrs. M. M. Hill for a week, re
turned to their homes Monday.
Sylvester Hall a resident of Med
ford and brother of Albert S. Hall.

E. H. Sbepard returned Tuesday
from a five weeks trip in the East.
He was present at the International
Apple Shippers annual meeting at
Marara Falls and visited many of
the large cities. Mr. Shepard found
his paper, "Better Fruit," very well
known in the fruit sections of the
East and was successful In still fur

After a few weeks vacation, the
Unitarian Sunday school will open
next Sunday. Through Septem!er
the exercises will take on some of the
features of the "Children's church,
to which parents and friends are
