Absten states that they had an average attendance of 12 students In their high school last year. Thus the cost per scholar on that basis was $1(M. I suppose Bro. Absten will say that part of the principal's salary should be dedu-.-ted for supervision. But I Imagine that with 12 high school recitations, while the average high school teacher has but six the Frankton principal has but slight time for supervision. Supervision of necessity Is very, very limited. I frankly admit that you have an excelleut principal nt Frankton. But your people do not appreciate his efforts by paying him $12. mt month to try to do more than the work of two men. Before this controversy Is over I think It will Is proved that the con solidation Idea Is not ouly better for the pupils and teachers, but also cheaper for the taxpayer. I hoe that we all can think this matter over can-fully and see If we can co operate In securing one of the Unt school systems In the state. Kespeetfnlly. M A SON. A. It pays to advertise. Answers Mr. Absten Editor News: Bro. Absteu's ex ceptions to the plan for the consoli dation of our schools for high school work are interesting. I have not time to write an extended article, yet must offer a few thoughts for Bro. A listen's consideration. He says it is a physical Impossibil ity for the high school children from bis district to be transported to Hood Klver. But he does not stale why. The Frankton school building Is but one and a half miles due west from the Hood Klver high school. If the roads are Impassible application to the county court for relief should ls made. I saw small grade children as well as high school boys and girls transported a greater distance In Indlnna last winter, where they had to throw down the fences and go across fields on account of the nw illfts. Vet the resident there can not say too much In praise of their consolidation of schools. Brother Absten thinks I am wrong In my statement last year that Frankton's high school work cost. them over 100 per student. I have lost the figures given me n year ago, ...BEHIND TIME... Sometimes a minute is of extreme importance. Your watch should be there to the second. If it's not some thing is wrong. Let us examine it.
