Thursday. Mr. Morton has been
spending the winter with his mother,

She will come up later for the sum
mer. J. C. Herring, of Iowa, who was
here last fall, arrived Saturday for
another look at the Hood Kiver
country. Mr. Herring is a friend of
the Page and Kadford families.

W. D. Kogers, of Wood Klver, was
the guest of D. X. Kyerlee in that city
last week.
C. E. King, who has been here for
the past two years, left for Portland
Monday, where lie will remain In
definitely. The Sans Social Club held Its an
nual meeting at the home of Miss
Anile Walton last week. The new
otlicers elected are Mrs. F. H. Button,
president; Mrs. A. L. Pago, vice-president,

The attendance was large, and a
pleasant afternoon spent.

Christian Endeavor Convention being
held In Portland this week by Miss
Adele Goff, Mrs. Kay Aclieson, Miss
Klanche Harbison, and Hev. W. C.
Gilmore, of the Congregational
Church. Will Fossand Blanche Ford
are also in attendance from the
L'uited Brethren Church, and several
of the other churches throughout the
valley are represented.
The bible school of the Christian
Church Is enjoying Increased Interest
and attendance under the lively
leadership of A. B. C. (The C stands
for Cash). Mrs. Cash says he lays
awake nights studying up new
schemes and jobs to keep the school
busy. It will soon be like the famous
company that had ninety-nine ofllccrs
and one private. At the beginning
of thi year the attendance was .V),
and on February !lh It was"!, show
ing a fair start towards the desired
"11)0 in !M) days."
A subject of great present day In
terest will lie considered at the vesper
service of the I'nltarlan Church from
5 to i p.m. next Sunday, February
20. The subject under discussion will
be 'An Introduction to the Wield
Spread Agitation for a Change In Our

Oild Fellows' Hall was the scene of
a big meeting of Odd Fellows Thurs
day evening. White Salmon, Mosier,
The Dalles, Udell, and Mount Hood
were represented. The first degree
was conferred on several candidates,
the work Ising put on by t lie team
from White Salmon. Altogether
about l.K( members of the order were
present. The affair was concluded
by a big supper, served by the Daugh
ters of Kebekah. The largest uumlicr
present were frum White Salmon,
about thirty coining over from that
city.
