15. F. Westfall had a tin rrow escape
from death one day last week, while
working about the planer at thesaw
mill. His clothing was caught in
the pulley on the counter shaft, that
wan revolving at luM) revolutions per
minute, and he was drawn Into the
machinery in such a way that he
was enabled to get hold of the planer
tied and bold on until his clothing
gave way. In the meantime a belt
had come loose and nearly pounded
lilin to a Jelly. While there were no
bones broken, It will be some time
liefore he will be able to get around
again.
W. F. Cash was In Portland a
couple of days this week.
H. It. Adams, who has been with
his uncle In the I'nderwood store for
nearly a year, lias moved back to
Cascade Lis'ks where his father Is In

Kobt. Hardwick left during the
week for a visit to his old home in
the east.
Now that the snow has somewhat
disappeared the real estate men are
getting busy and several large sales
have been reported during the week.
J. T. Davenport Is erecting a tem
porary barn on his lots at the edge
of town. The hard wind storm of
Thursday night blew his first frame
work down, but nothing daunted
he went to work making matters
right again.
