New Depots on Great Northern
Two of the most handsome rail
way stations In the northwest are
being completed by the Great North
ern at Everett and Wenatchee. Kach
structure Is an Important addition
to the Improvements of the city lu
which It Is located. Other cities
along the Great Northern are lu line
for similar accommodations as the
Hill line Is sparing no money to cater
to Its patrons In the best possible
style. As Wenatchee Is to be the
headquarters through which all of
the Upper Columbia river business
will te handled. It has a station far
ahead of anything to be fouad In an
other town of Its size. But It Is
growing so rapidly that It wont be
long until the town Is abreast of this
Improvement.
Farms in the Northwest Have Doubled
In the last five years the number of
farms In the northwest bos doubled,
until today there are 211,000 which
yielded products In 1909 having a
total value of $404,000,000. The vari
ous states stand as follows: Oregon
75,000 farms;Vashlngton 60,0K) farms
Idaho 40.000 farms; Montana 30,000
farms. There are millions of acres of
land Idle now that could be put un
der cultivation on a revenue basis.
With the bnck-to-thc-land tendencies
of the present day It Is certain that
the number of farms In the northwest
will continue to Increase for many
years to come.
