Catarrh Cannot be Cured
with local applications, as they can
not reach the seat of the disease.

STAMPEDE FROM ARKANSAW
ON ACCOUNT OF APPLES
Guy Smith who recently setit a box
of apples to an Arkansaw man has
received the following letter.
Glencoe, Ark., Dec. 13, 1909.
Mr. Guy F. Smith,
Hood Kiver, Oregon.
My dear Colonel:
I wish to acknowledge receipt of a
box of of the finest apples that I ever
saw, and that Is saying a good deal
for I am a professional nurseryman,
having made that my business for
thirty years. I am certainly authority
on'good apples. The box was nicely
packed and came In the finest condi
tion. I was favorable Impressed
with your Arkansas Mack, as that
is an apple that I have taken a great
deal of stock In and you grow a much
finer apple thau wa do In Arkansaw.
The SpltzenlsTg was also fine, a
favorite apple of mine and whenever
pick one out of the box to eat It Is
Splzenberg. The Yellow Pippin
showed up In great shape and seemed
to be the favorite with the ladles of
jlenroe. The Ortley Is a new one to
me. X must comes mat you nave
got me; I never have propagated It
and 1 am no authority on Its virtues.
was In Hood Kiver last sumhier
and regret very much that I did not
see you. I made an extensive visit
through your valley and was much
pleased with the general appearance
of your orchard and I believe there
Is a great future In store for you and
other gentlemen pioneers that have
taken hold of the fruit business.
I attended the Land exhibition
here aud saw the Hood Kiver dis
play. It certainly was very fine and
was very attractive. The Hood
Kiver display received more favor
able comment thau any other aud lu
conversation, as thu emigration to
that country will lie Immense In the
future, all going out to purchase
Hood Kiver orchards.
I am expecting A. 15. Combs here
for Christmas. He will remain here
for about a week or ten days, then
return to Portland. When you see
him I wish you would Inform him
that I have acknowledge next sum
mer to spend a week at Lost Lake
with a party of New Orleans people
who are going there and I hope I
can have the pleasure of meeting you
while on my trip.
Again thanking you for t lie apples
and the courtesies extended. I am
Very truly yours,
Gr.o. w. Comhs.
