StIcKiNg tO tHe sAnD Seaside Promenade welcomes sculptors to the sand BY ZOE BUCHLI Experienced sand sculptors will gather on the shores of Seaside this week for an excit- ing spectacle of carving and artistry. Seaside SandFest is a new event on the North Coast. It welcomes five sculptors, four from Washington and one from Montana, to Seaside’s beaches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It’s free, open to the public and is designed for all ages. “This appeals to every- body,” Bert Adams, the event’s organizer, said. “It’s amaz- ing to me to see the number of people, especially kids, go up and just want to sit there and watch it for hours.” Adams emphasized that the carvers at SandFest are some of the best, and that it’s Ore- gon’s only master-level sand sculpture contest.
