‘Treasure the beach’
at Seaside cleanup
Community invited
to ‘run for change’
SEASIDE – Seaside’s Treasure the Beach
cleanup event will off er locals and visitors the
chance to contribute to a healthier shoreline,
beginning at the Seaside Aquarium at 9 a.m.
Saturday.
The monthly beach cleanup, coordinated by
multiple area volunteer groups, provides trash bags
and gloves to participants, as well as “cleanup
coins” redeemable at local coff ee shops.
Volunteers can sign up and receive supplies
at the aquarium before setting out onto the

SEASIDE – Run for Change, a 5K
beach running event, will set off from the
sands near 12th Avenue, beginning at 9 a.m.
Saturday.
The race will continue south toward Ave-
nue U before heading back to its starting
point.
Cost for participating is $30 and includes
a t-shirt. Entry costs will benefi t Help-
ing Hands. A registration table will open
at 8 a.m., and registration is also available

Nerd out at the Liberty Th eatre
ASTORIA – Liberty Theatre will present
Nerdsdaynitelive!, an event featuring a series
of tabletop role-playing games, in the McTav-
ish Room at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The event, focused on interactive storytell-
ing, will feature games such as Dungeons &
Dragons, Alien and Call of Cthulu.
This event is free and open to the public.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Minors must be accom-

Pink Martini brings multilingual
ensemble show to Astoria
ASTORIA – Multilingual musical ensem-
ble Pink Martini will perform a set of songs
in over 25 languages at Liberty Theatre at
7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
With over a dozen musicians, the band has
performed with more than 70 orchestras world-
wide and sold over 3 million albums.
Admission is $45 to $65. Doors open at

The Northwest Civil War Council will present a living history event on Labor Day
weekend in Astoria.
Civil War reenactment and living
history event set for fairgrounds
ASTORIA – The Northwest Civil War
Council will present “The Battle for Clat-
sop County,” a war reenactment event at
the Clatsop County Fair & Expo Center
on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
This living history event will fea-
ture daily battles, a medical demonstra-
tion, period clothing styles, cannons and
horses.
Admission is $10 for those 8 years old
and above and free for children under the
age of 8. Parking is $5.
