    Chinook salmon derby off ers
barbecue dinner and prizes
CHINOOK, Wash. – The Chinook Port
Alliance and Columbia River Roadhouse
will host a salmon derby and summer bar-
becue from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Prizes will be awarded for the larg-
est Chinook salmon and largest sil-
ver salmon. A dinner of barbecue pork
and chicken will be served alongside
potato salad, corn on the cob and dessert
selections.
The cost for participating in the derby
is $20. Both the derby and dinner are $35.

stage at Peninsula Arts Center

LONG BEACH, Wash. – Acoustic blues
musicians Mary Flower, Spud Siegel and
Doc Stein will perform at Peninsula Arts
Center at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Flower, a singer-songwriter and teacher,
mixes roots guitar with ragtime, swing,
folk and jazz styles. She will be joined by
multi-instrumentalist Spud Siegel. Doc
Stein, playing country and swing tunes, will
round out the trio.

Trail’s End Art Association
announces judged art show selections
GEARHART – Trail’s End Art Association
announced winners of the group’s judged art show
at a reception earlier this month.
Deborah Stenberg’s “Bread Winners” took the
Best of Show prize, while the Mayor’s award,
selected by Gearhart mayor Kerry Smith, was given
to Cecilia Henle’s “Chickadee Fluff ed.”
The judged art show attracted submissions from
more than 50 Northwest artists.
The show marks a unique opportunity for non-
members to submit artwork at the gallery. For more

“The Bread Winners,” by Deborah Sternberg was
awarded the Best of Show in the Trail’s End Art
Association’s judged art show.

ASTORIA – Americana roots rock group
Adams & Costello will play at KALA at
8 p.m. on Saturday.
The Cannon Beach group will fea-
ture the songwriting and vocals of Michael
Costello and Julie Adams, accompanied by
Flynt Rice on drums and Joe Lev on bass.
The foursome will present selections from
their upcoming third album.
Blues musician Lloyd Jones will perform in
