Sculptures return to peninsula shores

Sculptures in the sand will return
to the shores of Long Beach, Wash-
ington, this week, as the peninsula’s
much-loved oceanside extravaganza
returns for a multi-day celebration.
Now in its 38th year, Sandsa-
tions, a contest presented by the
Long Beach Merchants Association,
highlights the magic of the coast by
inviting locals and visitors to partic-
ipate in the art of sandcastle build-
ing. Creations in past years have
featured the unique beauty of the
region, from local businesses to tide
pool creatures.
