Liberty Th eatre presents two
showings of ‘Th e Jungle Book’
ASTORIA – Two presentations of
“The Jungle Book” will be performed by
the Missoula Children’s Theatre at 3 and
5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The show will take place as part of Mis-
soula Children’s Theatre’s international
touring project, and will feature roles fi lled
by over 50 local students.

Angora Hiking Club to
explore Beard’s Hollow
ASTORIA – The Angora Hiking Club
will host an exploration and hike at Beards
Hollow, near Ilwaco, Washington, at 1 p.m.
on Wednesday.
Hikers, led by Jan Coughlin, will meet
in a parking lot on Marine Drive, between
Second and Third streets in Astoria.
Angora Hiking Club member dues are
$10 annually, though participants do not
need to be club members. For more infor-

Author to give presentation on
historical novel in Seaside
SEASIDE – Frisbee teams will return to
the beach this weekend for the Against The
Grain Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, run-
ning throughout Saturday and Sunday in
Seaside.
The event will be set up with a minimum
team size of 10 and suggested size between

SEASIDE – Author Deena Lindstedt will
discuss her latest historical novel, “Lady
of the Play,” in the community room at the
Seaside Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
A book signing and time for audience
questions will follow the talk. Lindstedt’s
novel explores the Elizabethan era while
weaving in the modern tale of a high school
history teacher set on uncovering details
about William Shakespeare’s past.

events, sales, performances
‘Performathon’ arrives
at Ten Fift een Th eater
ASTORIA – More than 30 local busi-
nesses will host a variety of events, per-
formances and sales in celebration of
AstoriUS Day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on
Friday.
Events planned will include a ribbon
cutting for the new location of Kit’s Apoth-
ecary and Foragers at 11 a.m., a magic
show at The Magic Shop at 1:30 p.m., a
scavenger hunt at Lucy’s Books and side-
walk sales at Gulley’s Butcher Shop, Pur-
ple Cow Toys, Lumen Community Well-
ness and more.
Entertainers and buskers will also be
ASTORIA – Actors, musicians, art-
ists and makers are invited to display their
skills at Performathon, an annual fundraiser
held at the Ten Fifteen Theater, starting at
7:15 p.m. on Friday.
The event will feature 24 hours of per-
formances, lasting through 7:15 p.m.
