will off er a series of weekend concerts
at the Lovell Taproom on Saturday and
Sunday.
Singer-songwriter Emma Gei-
ger will perform songs from her debut
music collection “Haven,” on Saturday
at 4 p.m., accompanied by Monica and
Serious River Song Catalogue. Folk
and Americana artist Alex Dunn will
follow from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, per-
forming acoustic selections with a mar-
itime fl air.

En Canto to perform at
Cape Disappointment
Dance competition to
arrive in Seaside
ILWACO, Wash. – En Canto,
a sextet focused on forro music, a
fusion of Brazilian styles, will per-
form at Cape Disappointment State
Park at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The Seattle-based music group,
consisting of vocalist Adriana Gior-
dano, accordionists Jamie Maschler
and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, bassist
Mike Catts, fl autist Meese Tonkin,
pianist Mike Withey and drummer
Adam Kozie, will perform as part of
the park’s summer folk and traditional
concert series.

SEASIDE – As part of the Spot-
light Dance Cup, the Pacifi c North-
west Nationals will begin at the Sea-
side Civic and Convention Center on
Monday, continuing through a series
of competitions until July 17.

center to reveal
new art collection
SEASIDE – A new collection of
public artwork, including prints, tex-
tiles, woodwork and glass, will be
unveiled at The Seaside Civic & Con-
vention Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
on Friday.
The unveiling will take place as
part of a community event, off ering
refreshments and artist meet and greet
sessions for visitors.

Maritime Museum
receives grant funding
for new audio tour
ASTORIA – The Columbia River
Maritime Museum has received an
Oregon Museum Grant from the Ore-
gon Heritage Commission, supporting
the introduction of a new Spanish lan-
guage audio tour within the museum.
Commission funding, awarded
annually since 1965 as part of the
Oregon Heritage Program within the
Oregon Parks and Recreation Depart-
ment, will support preservation, edu-
cation and tourism projects at 12
museums this year.

Community picnic
planned for Nehalem
NEHALEM – A community picnic
at Nehalem City Park will be held at
11 a.m. on Saturday.
Visitors are asked to bring chairs,
blankets and other picnic supplies
for the event, which will focus on
the development of Rainy Day Vil-
lage, a planned community for senior
citizens.

Tuba festival returns to
Astoria with workshops,
performances
ASTORIA – The 36th annual
Northwest Big Brass Bash will take
place at the Charlene Larsen Cen-
ter for the Performing Arts on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday.
Hosted by the Astoria Tuba Quar-
tet, the weekend event allows musi-
cians, ranging from high school stu-
dents to veteran players, to hone their
skills, and is dedicated to the memory
of guest artist Harvey Phillips.
The event will include a recital
showcase for solo and ensemble play-
ers at 3 p.m. on Saturday, featuring a
lesson and performance by music pro-
fessor Michael Grose. Rehearsal time
will take place throughout the week-
end, culminating in a group concert at
2 p.m. on Sunday.
