    Painter to host
plein air workshop
CANNON BEACH –
Painter Hazel Schlesinger will
host a plein air workshop at
Les Shirley Park beginning at
9 a.m. on Friday and continu-
ing through Saturday evening.
The workshop, hosted with
Northwest by Northwest Gal-
lery, will focus on Schlesing-
er’s painting techniques, con-
tinuing into the sunset hours.
Registration for the work-
shop costs $250. Partic-
ipants are asked to bring
an easel, palette, brushes,
paints, sketchbook and other
desired materials, as well as
lunch and weather appropri-

Ten Fift een Th eater
seeks proposals for
upcoming season
ASTORIA – The Ten Fifteen Theater is
now seeking proposals for next year’s reg-
ular season, with a theme of “Centenary.”
Celebrating the 100th anniversary of
Astoria’s Odd Fellows Building, the the-
ater is looking for items that feature this
element within their content. Both main-
stage and readers’ productions will be
accepted.
Directors are asked to provide back-
ground information on their experience and

pair of one act plays
ASTORIA – The Ten Fifteen Theater
will host auditions for “D & D: A Night
of David & Durang,” a pairing of one act
plays, at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and 6 p.m. on
Monday.
Directed by Ryan Hull, the pair of per-
formances will run from Sept. 16 to Sept.
24, featuring “An Interview” by David
Mamet and “The Actor’s Nightmare” by
Christopher Durang.

Sunset Empire
Amateur Radio Club
hosts fi eld day event
ASTORIA – The Sunset Empire Ama-
teur Radio Club will host a fi eld day exer-
cise at the southwest corner of 12th and
Exchange streets from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Saturday and Sunday.
This event will take place as part of a
national exercise, demonstrating the science
and skill of public radio broadcasting, as
well as its service to the greater community.

Pride in Seaside festival
hosts downtown events
SEASIDE – The Pride in Seaside fes-
tival will host a set of events throughout
downtown Seaside from noon to 8 p.m. on
Saturday.
Celebrating the LGBTQ community and
allies, the event will begin with a walk on
the Seaside Promenade, starting from 12th
Avenue at noon and ending at the beach
with a series of presentations from commu-
nity speakers.
At 1 p.m., a picnic lunch with music and
an open mic session will be held at Quatat
Park. Later, the festival will host a showing
of “The Greatest Showman” at the Sunset
Recreation Center gymnasium at 6 p.m.
These events are free and open to the
public. Participants are asked to bring lunch

off ers printing workshop
ASTORIA – LightBox Photographic
Gallery will off er a workshop focused on
creating Carbon Transfer prints on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday.
Led by artist Jim Fitzgerald, the series
will cover the full printing process using
large format fi lm negatives, as well as dis-
cussions about the history and practice of
printing.
