Miska Gallery off ers
workshop featuring sumi ink
CANNON BEACH – Miska Stu-
dio Gallery will off er “Sandpipers in the
Surf,” an art workshop featuring sumi
ink, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Led by artist Carol Ross, the work-
shop will guide participants through a
process of drawing and tracing on clay
board. Each attendee will bring home a
painting ready for display.
Tuition for the workshop is $150.

Angora Hiking Club hosts
journey through historic sites
ASTORIA – Angora Hiking Club will set
off from Astoria to explore sites throughout
Vancouver, Washington, at 9 a.m. on June 25.
The group will meet on Marine Drive
between 2nd and 3rd streets before heading
off . The tour will begin with a guided explo-
ration of gothic revival art and architecture at
the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater
at 11 a.m., followed by a trip to the Vancou-
ver Saturday Market.
At 12:45 p.m., the group will meet at Fort
Vancouver National Historic Site, where hik-
ers are invited to learn about more about
local history.
Registration is required for this event,
with a deadline of Wednesday. To register,

gmail.com. Angora Hiking Club member
dues are $10 annually. This hike requires a
National Parks Land Pass or additional $10
fee. Dogs are prohibited on hikes. For more

North Coast Land
Conservancy hosts
barn picnic fundraiser
SEASIDE – North Coast Land Con-
servancy will host a barn picnic at Circle
Creek Conservation Center at noon on
Wednesday.
This event off ers a chance to explore
the conservancy’s fl agship property
while sharing a picnic lunch with family,
friends and neighbors. The event will
also feature live music and guided hikes,
as well as a wine pull fundraiser benefi t-
ing coastal conservation eff orts.
Attendees are asked to bring lunch
and other picnic supplies, such as chairs
and blankets. Twenty fi ve bottles of
wine will be available at $20 each. For

Author and illustrator
to give presentation
in Clatskanie
CLATSKANIE – The Clatskanie
Library District will host author and
illustrator Vera Brosgol at the Clatskanie
Cultural Center at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The event signals the start of the
library’s summer reading program. Bros-
gol, who has written graphic novels and
worked as a storyboard artist, will dis-
cuss her work and engage in drawing
exercises with guests.
This event is free and open to the
public. The fi rst 100 guests will receive
a copy of “Be Prepared” by Brosgol.

Classical guitarist
to perform at
Coaster Th eatre
CANNON BEACH – Classical guitar-
ist Aaron Larget-Caplan will perform at
Coaster Theatre Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. on
Saturday.
Exploring transcribed masterpieces, tra-
ditional Spanish dances and a set of recent
compositions, the concert, titled “Dreams
& New Creations,” will off er a sampling of
Larget-Caplan’s work.
Admission for the show is $25. Proof of
COVID vaccination required for all attend-
