Arts council hosts
inaugural Make Music
Clatsop County event
ASTORIA – The Arts Council of Clatsop
County will host an inaugural event titled
Make Music Clatsop County, a collabora-
tion of local venues, on Tuesday.
Launched as part of Make Music Day,
celebrated across over 1,000 cities world-
wide, the event invites individuals and
groups to share music via time slots at par-
ticipating venues.
Venues include the Ten Fifteen Theater,
Charlene Larsen Center for the Perform-
ing Arts, The Lot and The SEA Crab House,
while confi rmed musicians include Asto-
ria Ukulele Orchestra and Cascadia Cham-
ber Opera.

Winner of North Coast
off ers zine making workshop
Writer’s Residency announced
ASTORIA – Astoria Studio Collective
ASTORIA – The Writer’s Guild and
Astoria Visual Arts have announced the
winner of this year’s North Coast Writer’s
Residency.
Jennifer D. Munro, of Albany, will
spend one week working on a collection of
essays titled “The Twelfth Mom.” The col-
lection focuses on challenges of being an
adoptive parent while chronicling a love of
birdwatching.
A reception and public reading from
the project will be held on Nov. 5 at Asto-
will host a workshop focused on creating
zines, small self-directed magazines, from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Hosted by writer, educator and illustrator
Heather Douglas, the workshop will guide
participants through zine making as a tool
for social change, working with materials
like paper scraps, images and drawings.
Tuition for the workshop is $25 for
members of The Writer’s Guild and $35 for
