Dedication for Astoria Nordic
Heritage Park set for Friday
A dedication for the Astoria Nordic Heritage Park
will take place on Friday morning prior to the start of
the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival.
Entertainment by the Nordic Viking Scandia Danc-
ers will begin at 10 a.m. The dedication will begin
at 10:30 a.m. Seating will be available on the street
between the park and Astoria Riverwalk.
The Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival
will begin at 2 p.m. at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds
and runs until Sunday afternoon.
Miss Oregon marks 75th anniversary
SEASIDE — The 75th annual Miss Oregon com-
petition returns to the Seaside Civic and Convention
Center this week.
Lilly Boothe, of Clatskanie, will compete as Miss
Clatsop County.
The anniversary event, which runs from Thursday
to Saturday, comes with a look back at the Miss Ore-
gon pageant’s origins.
“In honor of our 75th anniversary, we have joined
forces with the Seaside Museum,” Beth McShane, the
pageant’s executive director, said.
McCloud named interim
CEO of Seaside chamber
SEASIDE — Katie McCloud joined the Seaside
Chamber of Commerce a little over a year ago. On
Friday, the board of directors announced she will be
serving as the chamber’s interim CEO if the position
is unfi lled by July.
Brian Owen, the outgoing CEO, was named gen-
eral manager of the Seaside Civic and Convention
Center in May. He has served as the chamber’s CEO
since 2016.
The chamber board has started forming a selec-
tion committee and will issue a formal job open-
ing to the public. “Katie has been with the cham-
ber for over a year and has the support of the board
in this interim period,” they said in announcing the
appointment.
