The chapter’s achieve- ments included a $30,000 investment in a greenhouse, advocating for agriculture education, participation in state, regional and national FFA alumni conferences, outstanding teacher sup- port during the pandemic and off ering Supervised Agricultural Experience scholarships to local FFA students. DAR members place in national contest The National Society of the Daughters of the Amer- ican Revolution announced that Astoria Chapter mem- ber Doris Dramov placed fi rst in the American heri- tage contest for her needle- point pillow; Sandra Fuller, Jennie Jo McCormick and Sue Glen placed fi rst in art and sculpture, the other cat- egory for their game, Agent 355; and Glen placed third in the hand quilting category for her falling leaves quilt. For three decades, SMART Reading has paired community volunteers with elementary school students for in-person, one-on-one reading sessions.
