    ‘Cellobop’ performance
set for Raymond Th eatre
Gideon Freudmann performs on an

RAYMOND, Wash. — Cellist Gideon
Freudmann will perform “Cellobop,”
a unique concert as part of the Sunday
Afternoon Live series at the Raymond
Theatre on Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m.
Sponsored by the Willapa Veterinary
Service and Ena Bale, the event will lead
off a trio of concerts for the venue.
Freudmann’s improvisational electric
cello performances feature a mix of clas-
sical, blues, jazz, electronic, funk and folk
music, adding riff s and layers to form a
unique sound. The cellist regularly con-
tributes music to NPR’s “All Things Con-
sidered” and has been featured on multi-
ple television programs. He also regularly
provides soundtracks for silent fi lm
showings.
Admission for the show is $20 in
advance or $25 at the door, and $5 for
students. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tick-

LightBox opens exhibits
featuring the Columbia
ASTORIA — Four photographic exhib-
its featuring the Columbia River as a subject,
including the works of Robbie McClaran, Ken
Hochfeld and Pat Welle will open at LightBox
Photographic Gallery on Saturday from noon to
7 p.m.
McClaran will exhibit “The Great River of
the West,” a series made up of silver gelatin con-
tact prints from an antique large format camera,
while Hochfeld presents two exhibits. The fi rst,
“Pages: The majestic Columbia River,” features
the river’s precolonial culture and inhabitants,
and the second, “Small Communities of the
Lower Columbia River,” turns a lens on places
and people of the region. A retired scientist,
Welle’s exhibit, “There and back again,” will
explore native habitats of the Columbia River
estuary, a critical reach for migrating salmon.
