SEAVIEW, Wash. — The third annual
Sou’wester Arts Week, featuring the theme
“Decentralized, Staggered & Open Air,”
will take place at the Sou’wester Historic
Lodge on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sat-
urday from noon to 10 p.m.
Celebrating the lodge’s annual art-
ist residency and featuring more than 30
on-site creators, the collaborative event
will include performances, installations and
studio tours focused on the use of materi-
als and experiential nature of the residency
program.

‘Dance Extravaganza’ comes to Liberty Th eatre
ASTORIA — Work D ance C o. will pres-
ent “Express Yourself: A Dance Extrava-
ganza” at the Liberty Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
on Saturday.
The local dance troupe combines visual
eff ects, lighting shows, props and costume
changes to create a dazzling production
focused on self-expression through dance,
featuring diverse styles including jazz, hip-
hop, lyrical, ballet and more.
For this show, the troupe will be joined by
special guests Maddox D ance S tudio, Encore
D ance S tudio, Triple Moon belly dancing,
Elite D ance C o. and Elixir D ance C o.
General admission for the show is $15,
while VIP tickets, which include early entry
and a photo with the troupe, are $25. Doors
open for general admission ticket holders at

Chess federation state championship coming to Seaside
SEASIDE — The 16th annual Oregon
Scholastic Chess Federation state champi-
onship will take place at the Seaside Civic
and Convention Center on Friday and
Saturday.
The tournament is open to players in kin-
dergarten through 12th grade who meet
NEHALEM — Latin jazz vocalist Jes-
sie Marquez will perform at North County
Recreation District Performing Arts Center
on Friday at 7 p.m.
Marquez blends Cuban, Brazilian, jazz
and pop styles with heartfelt lyrics and lush
harmonies in both English and Spanish to
create a musical bridge between cultures.
Admission for the show is $14 in
advance and $17 at the door. Masks and
COVID vaccination are strongly encour-
aged for all attendees. Doors open at
6:30 p.m.
