Horse Feathers Hoff man Center hosts ‘Poetry
to perform at
and Artistry of Trees’ workshop Orchestra to
perform benefi t

concert
ASTORIA — The band Horse Feathers
is scheduled to perform at the Liberty The-
atre on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in support of
their upcoming album reissue.
Horse Feathers features Justin Ringle
and Nathan Crockett on violin, backed by
new additions Luke Ydstie on upright bass,
Kati Claborn on banjo and Halli Anderson
on violin.
The concert will also feature special
guest Nick Delff s, who grew up in Men-
docino County before establishing himself
on Portland’s music scene as frontman for
The Shaky Hands. The group will be per-
forming selections from “House With No
Home,” their breakthrough album now
set for reissue, as well as other acoustic
favorites.
Admission for the show is $25. Doors
open at 6:30 p.m. Proof of vaccination
or negative COVID test required for all

MANZANITA — Art-
ist and poet Alana Garri-
gues will host a workshop
focused on “The Poetry and
Artistry of Trees” at Hoff -
man Center for the Arts on
Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to
3 p.m.
The workshop will incor-
porate writing and visual
arts with mindfulness of the
land, acknowledging the
important role of trees in
local ecosystems. Its focus
will be on combined tech-
niques of watercolor, col-
lage, ink and more.
Workshop partici-
pants will be given six to
nine pieces of artist paper
and a small kit focused on
tree stories and inspira-
tion. Shared materials avail-
able will include water-
color paints, acrylics, ink,
brushes, pens, oil pastels,

The artist and
poet will host
a workshop
on Saturday
at Hoff man
Center for
the Arts in
Manzanita.
Alana Garrigues
collage papers, glues, char-
coal and graphite tools.
Shared supplies will be lim-
ited, and participants are
encouraged to bring along
preferred art tools, as well
as a notebook and pen or
pencil.
Tuition for the work-
shop is $135, as well as
an additional $15 materi-
als fee. Participants must
bring proof of vaccination

ASTORIA — The Astoria Ukulele
Orchestra presents “Not Your Aver-
age Orchestra,” a performance of 23
songs in one hour, at the Charlene
Larsen Center for the Performing Arts
on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Comprised of 11 members from
the North Coast, the orchestra aims to
add a unique twist to modern music,
featuring the ukulele. Proceeds from
the orchestra’s performance will be
donated to the Arts Council of Clat-
sop County.
Admission for the show is $12
for adults and free for those 18 and
under. Masks and proof of COVID
vaccination are required for all
attendees. Seating will be socially
