ILWACO, Wash. — Two free days are being off ered by the
Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission: On March
19, in recognition of Washington State Parks’ birthday, and on
April 22, in celebration of Earth Day.
This means visitors to state parks will not need a Discover
Pass for a day-use visit on those days. The Discover Pass is
required to access lands managed by the Washington Department
of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources.

Sale to benefi t animal shelter
set for Saturday
WARRENTON — Clatsop Animal Assistance, the nonprofi t
partner of the Clatsop County Animal Shelter, is holding a sale
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pacifi c Grange, 90475 U.S.
Highway 101 in Warrenton. All of the proceeds will benefi t the
shelter.
Volunteers will be selling a wide variety of beds, toys, col-
lars, leashes, kennels, clothes and treats, and will be available
to answer any questions about adoptable animals and volunteer
opportunities at the shelter.

These programs include: Tai Chi Moving for Better Bal-

The HOPE Senior Peer Mentor Program is also available for
those who are 50 or older and wish to gain more eff ective coping
skills to help manage mild to moderate depression and anxiety
caused by life or isolation; chronic illness, a disability or end-
of-life concerns; family problems, caregiving stress or loss; and
diffi culty adjusting to change or constant worry.

Job Corps completes four service projects
The Tongue Point Job Corps Center provided several pounds
of food, blankets, coats, socks and a check for $500 to Filling
Empty Bellies, as well as blankets and comforters to the Astoria
Warming Center.
This was the last of four service projects the center spear-
headed in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Management &
Training Corp.
The fi rst service project involved partnering with Lucy’s
Books to collect and donate a new book to every Lewis & Clark
Elementary School student; the second project was hosting a
recycling event for bottles and cans, raising over $5,000 for
Columbia Senior Diners; and the third project involved raising
and donating $1,000 to Clatsop County Court Appointed Spe-
cial Advocates.
