Night held at Liberty
ASTORIA – The Liberty Theatre
presents North Coast Comedy Night,
the fi rst of a new series of live stand-up
shows, on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Hosted by Drew Wilson-McGrath,
this event will feature headlining come-
dian Tyler Boeh, known for winning
over Northwest audiences with his quick
wit, charm and relatable humor. Also
featured is Oregon comedy scene staple
Tory Ward, whose biting and cavalier
observations on family, personal health
and dating are sure to bring laughs.
Admission for the event is $10.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Proof of vaccina-
tion or negative COVID test required

ASTORIA – The Merry Time Bar &
Grill presents the Salty Mermaid Cup, a
regional pinball tournament, on Saturday
and Sunday.
The event will feature 32 players, with
qualifying rounds on Saturday followed
by fi nal rounds on Sunday. In addition to
the Merry Time’s eleven pinball machines,
additional vintage games will be brought in
for the tournament.
Pinball has enjoyed a resurgence in
recent years, and the Northwest was once
home to a pinball craze. Portland once laid
claim to having the most pinball machines
per capita of any U.S. city. The event is cur-
rently sold out.
Chamber orchestra holds March concerts
The North Coast Chamber Orchestra
will present two concerts of classical music
titled “Concert Overtures” this weekend.
The fi rst concert is at 7 p.m. on Friday at
St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, 36335 N.
U.S. Highway 101 in Nehalem. The second
concert is at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Char-
lene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts,
588 16th St. in Astoria.
Directed by conductor Cory Peder-
son, the concerts will feature overtures that
recall some of classical music’s endearing
operas, ballets and oratorios.
Selections performed by the orchestra
include “Echoes of Ossian,” “Light Cav-
alry Overture” and “Overture to Rienzi,”
among others. The programs will also
include solo performances by Cannon
Beach pianist Diane Amos, the orches-
tra’s Judy Woodward and guest artist Mike
Woods.
Admission for each concert is $10 for
adults, $5 for students and free for children
under 12 (with adult supervision). Masks
and proof of vaccination are required for
all attendees. Tickets can be purchased

Liberty Th eatre presents Sondheim tribute
ASTORIA – The musicians of Port-
land’s 45th Parallel Universe will perform
a night of tributes to musical theatre icon
Stephen Sondheim at 7 p.m. on Friday at
the Liberty Theatre.
Sondheim was known for shows that
tackled unexpected themes with complex
musical arrangements. His works include
“West Side Story,” “A Funny Thing Hap-
pened on the Way to the Forum,” “Follies,”
and “Into the Woods,” among others.
Admission for the event is $25 for adults
and $5 for those under 18. Doors open at
6 p.m. and concessions will be closed for
this show. Proof of vaccination or negative
COVID test required for all attendees. For
