    Naselle Community Center
hosts instrumental concert
NASELLE, Wash. — Instru-
mental musicians Jennifer Good-
enberger and Kim Angelis will
perform together at the Naselle
Community Center on Saturday at
2 p.m.
The concert, sponsored by the
Finnish American Folk Festival,
will feature violin and piano com-
positions from both artists.

hosts acrylic painting
weekend workshop
MANZANITA — Visual artist
Dr. Melissa Grace Young will host
“Soulful Art in Acrylic Expres-
sion” on Saturday and Sunday
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. via Zoom.
The workshop, organized by
the Hoffman Center for the Arts,
will focus on figurative acrylic
painting. Topics include compo-
sition, scale, color and emotional
aspects of art making.
With a background in medicine
and psychology, Young is inter-
ested in the intersections of art
practice and healing. After a hur-
ricane destroyed her family prac-
tice in Texas, Young moved to
the Pacifi c Northwest . She now
calls Manzanita home, where
her involvement with the Hoff -
man Center began through their
ceramic program, and later by
teaching sketchbook journaling.
Participants in the acrylic work-
shop are asked to supply materi-
als, including paints, brushes, can-
vas and a charcoal stick or pencil.
Tuition is $95. Z oom links will be

Filmmaker seeks actors,
crew for Astoria project
ASTORIA — Comic book historian
and independent fi lmmaker Jon McClure
is seeking local actors and crew members
for an upcoming fi lm project, “Very Weird
Tales,” set to begin production later this
year.
The short comedy set in Astoria is ded-
icated to McClure’s late wife, who passed
away in October. McClure is seeking 20
volunteer extras and 12 to 24 principal
actors, as well as camera equipment, to sup-
port the project.
