LACIE AND ETHAN SAWYER’S WEDDING
Story by Lissa Brewer • Photos by Alicia Von Bond
L
acie Sawyer spent her childhood summers roaming the sandy shores of Seaside. “My grandparents
were raised on the Oregon Coast, so we’ve been making trips out there for as long as I can remember,”
she said.
So after graduating high school in the summer of 2020, Lacie took her soon-to-be fiancé, Ethan Sawyer,
on a trip to the North Coast. There, he got to see the places that held so many of her fondest childhood
memories. He proposed on that special stretch of coast in Seaside, the one she remembers visiting with her
grandparents, on Aug. 16 — a date the couple now marks with three anniversaries. “We started dating on
Aug. 16, 2019, got engaged Aug. 16, 2020, and then got married Aug. 16, 2021!” Lacie said.
There was no better place to hold a wedding ceremony, the couple decided, than on that same beach. “My granddad passed away
recently, and my grandmother got diagnosed with cancer. This was in remembrance of him, but also this is my childhood spot, a lot of the
memories I have of them are at the beach,” Lacie said. After their vows, the couple marked their wedding day with a swim in the ocean.
