couple Kelli Alderman and JJ Weaver
exchanged vows. Part of the bride’s
speech was written more than 20 years
ago, a journal entry from when the two
attended school together.
“I wrote a lot about JJ in my diary when I
was younger,” Alderman said. “So, I still had some of those entries.”
When her mother dug the diary out of storage, Alderman knew

a reminder just how far the couple had come, childhood crushes
turned life partners. “I think I was 13 when I was writing about how
‘JJ is super cute, funny and smart, and I also said that he was really
rich,’” Alderman laughed.
“I had about $30 to my name,” Weaver added. “I think most of
my memories from then were going to approach Kelli and her group
of friends at their lunch table, walking up and not being able to say
anything and then running back to my friends.” He must have done
something right, because the couple ended up dating on and off until
the middle of high school. They went their separate ways, and it wasn’t
until a few years ago that they found each other again by accident.
