    Oyster Crackers to hold benefi t concert Classical music
ASTORIA – Don’t miss the Oyster
Crackers in concert on Sunday at 2 p.m.
as they perform a concert to benefi t the
Charlene Larsen Center for the Per-
forming Arts .
The Oyster Crackers are a harmoni-
ous folk quartet based on Washington’s
Long Beach Peninsula and Astoria. Rita
Smith, Christl Mack, Bette Lu Krause
and Phyllis Taylor off er songs of hope
and inspiration, an eclectic mix of
Americana, Celtic and original music.
Relax and enjoy a Sunday after-
noon of beautiful harmonies accompa-
nied by guitar, cello, and fi ddle. This
quartet have sung for many years with
choral ensembles. Taylor is a classi-
cally trained cellist turned folk musi-
cian. Several members of the group are
retired educators, and all currently cre-
ate art and music.
This past winter, the group released
an album called The Oyster Crackers:
“Home Grown Pearls.”
Tickets are $17 and can be pur-

Seating is socially distanced, and masks
and proof of vaccination are required.

Liberty Th eatre
ASTORIA – Classical music lov-
ers will delight in Known Unknown, a
selection of pieces both defi nitive and
under the radar, interpreted by classical
musicians, on Friday at 7 p.m.
Sponsored by 45th Parallel Uni-
verse, the concert will feature three
pieces: Robert Schumann’s “Piano
Quartet in E fl at major, Op. 47,”
Hélène Liebmann’s “Grand Trio No. 1
in A major, Op. 11,” and Daniel Ber-
nard Roumain’s “Filter.”
The performers are Greg Ewer on
violin, Adam Lamotte on viola, Adaiha
MacAdam-Somer on cello, and Byron
Schenkman on piano.
General a dmission is $25 for adults,
$5 for under 18. Proof of vaccina-
tion or a negative COVID-19 test are
