Talk to focus on fi re history, preparation in Clatsop County Film festival to screen ‘What Happened Miss Simone?’ at Liberty ASTORIA — The Astoria Inter- national Film Festival will host a screening of “What Happened Miss Simone?” at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Liberty Theatre. Tickets are $10. The fi lm festival team works to screen a fi lm each year in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A forum will follow the screen- ing about Nina Simone, an entertainer and activist during the civil rights era in the 1960s. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is required. The theater is located at 1203 Commercial St. in Astoria. This talk will cover coastal fi re history; threats posed by fi re to communities, infra- structure, and resources; and steps you can take to prepare for wildfi re. ‘What Happened Miss Simone?’ will be shown at the Liberty Theatre on Sunday. Coaster Th eatre holds auditions for ‘Th e 39 Steps’ CANNON BEACH — The Coaster Theatre Playhouse will hold auditions on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for “The 39 Steps.” The play, directed by Mick Alderman, runs for 10 shows March 18 to April 16. Auditions will take place at the play- house, 108 N. Hemlock St. in Cannon Beach. The theater is looking for four actors to take part in the whodunnit play. The theater requires all volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to bring proof of vaccination (original vaccination card, legible photocopy or legible digital copy) to auditions.
