ASTORIA — The Liberty Theatre will host a virtual, free gala Wednesday at 7 p.m. The virtual gala, the Liberty’s second, will include a special performance from Sergey Antonov of Hermitage Piano Trio, with Israel Nebeker of Blind Pilot. The gala will also include short video tributes from Astoria’s Mayor Bruce Jones, Astoria’s Arts & Movement Center’s Jessamyn West and the world premiere of the song “Bringing the Liberty Back” by The Hackles. The event will include a donor chal- lenge. All pledges made by midnight on Wednesday will be doubled up to $75,000. Symphonic band opens new season at Liberty Th eatre ASTORIA — The North Coast Sym- phonic Band opens its 42nd season with “March Back to the NCSB” Sunday afternoon. The concert will be held at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre in Astoria. Seth Wollam and Joan Paddock from Linfi eld University will guest conduct. The afternoon will feature American music including marches, songs, selections from “Suite of Old American Dances” and medleys including Cole Porter and “Music Man.” Sparrow Dance Co. will dance the “Rag” from “Suite of Old American Dances,” and perform the Astoria Stroll to the “Budget March.” Vocalist Amanda McClure will sing “Gentle Annie” and “Teddy Bear’s Picnic.” The concert host will be Brian Bergman. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. The Astoria Tuba Quartet will perform a concert prelude. Regular admission is $15 and student admis- sion is $8.
