Cultural Coalition off ers King Tides Project
grants to nonprofi ts
presents seminar
Coronavirus Relief Fund Cul-
tural Support grant awards total-
ing $25.7 million will be distrib-
uted to 621 cultural organizations
across Oregon through a partner-
ship between the Oregon Cultural
Trust and its county and tribal cul-
tural coalitions.
The grant awards are distrib-
uted to projects that support, main-
tain, preserve and protect cultural
programs in the arts, heritage and
humanities in Clatsop County.
Organizations with 501(c)(3) non-
profi t status are eligible to apply;
individuals may apply when spon-
sored by a nonprofi t fi scal agent.
Grant awards will be announced
in December for activities occur-
ring between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31,
2022. Grant funds are available
up to $2,000 per project. Approx-
imately $10,000 is awarded each
grant cycle.
The application deadline is
5 p.m. Sunday for the Clatsop
County Cultural Coalition’s 2021
grant cycle. Late applications will
not be accepted. Applicants are
encouraged to read the Clatsop
County Cultural Coalition Plan and
FAQs at clatsopculturalcoalition.

The King Tides Project is pre-
senting an online seminar, via
Zoom, at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sus-
tainability expert Marina Psa-
ros will discuss “The future of the
tides,” and the shore with which
they interact, and take questions.
She is one of the founders of the
worldwide King Tides Project.

drill conductor workshops meet the

commercial fi shermen and $175

The Alaska Marine Safety
Education Association is off er-
ing a fi shing vessel drill conduc-
tor class from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov.
5 at Englund Marine and Indus-
trial Supply, 95 Hamburg Ave. in
Astoria.
The class covers cold-wa-
ter survival skills such as Emer-
gency Position Indicating Radio
Beacons, signal fl ares and may-
day calls, man-overboard recovery,
fi refi ghting and fl ooding and dam-
age control.
