adapts to to-go format

Cannon Beach will hold
classical piano concert Sunday
CANNON BEACH — Northwest
Piano Trio returns to Cannon Beach
to perform a free all-classical concert
Sunday.
The free concert will be held at 3 p.m.
at the Cannon Beach Community Church
located at 132 E. Washington St.
The concert, “A Family Aff air,” fea-
tures music of siblings, Felix Mendels-
sohn and Fanny Mendelssohn. Beethoven
pieces will also be featured.
The Northwest Piano Trio includes
Esther Shim on violin, Hannah Hille-
brand on cello and Susan McDaniel will
play the 7-foot Steinway grand piano at
Cannon Beach Community Church. The
Northwest Piano Trio, founded in 2014, is
based in Portland.
Concert attendees are asked to wear
masks.
ASTORIA — The Finnish Brotherhood
Auxiliary will serve laksloda to-go in lieu
of an in-person event this year.
The harvest meal includes laksloda, a
traditional salmon and potato casserole,
beets, beans, fresh bread and apple crisp.
The cost for the meal is $15 per person.
The auxiliary asks diners to preorder
meals by calling 503-440-9002 before
Oct. 14. Pick-up for the meals will be Oct.
16 behind the Suomi Hall at 244 West
Marine Dr., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

hosts art show this weekend
LONG BEACH, Wash. — The Pen-
insula Arts Association will host its 50th
annual Fall Art Show this weekend.
The show will take place inside the
Long Beach Depot Building at 102 3rd St.
NW on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to
4 p.m.
A people’s choice contest and art raffl e
will be held during the event to benefi t the
association’s high school graduate schol-
arship fund and art enrichment program.
